2 Teaching and Research Associate positions, pre doc
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting September 01, 2025, and ending after 6 years
What to expect
- Research environment. The Institute of Markets and Strategy is part of the Department of Strategy and Innovation at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien. IMS has a focus on research and teaching in behavioral, empirical, and experimental economics, as well as game theory and market and institutional design.
- Research. We are looking for a self-motivated, highly active and productive researchers, who will be expected to make a significant contribution to our research areas or a related field. While a substantial part of the candidate's research activities will be dedicated to his/her Ph.D. project, the candidate will also be involved in a supporting role in other research projects. The outcomes of research projects will be published in international research journals and presented at international academic conferences.
- Contributions. Your tasks will include contributions to research, data collection and analysis, teaching, and administration at the institute, including co-supervision of Bachelor and Master theses. The regular teaching load for this position comprises 2 SWS / term (~22.5 contact hours per term) and should employ multimedia teaching and learning formats. You will spend about a third of your working hours on conducting your own research and writing your dissertation.
- Training. Applications for an appointment as a Teaching and Research Associate imply that the successful candidate will enroll in WU's PhD program. Attending advanced graduate courses is part of the training.
What you have to offer
- Qualification. We wish to attract candidates with a solid academic qualification (Master degree or equivalent) in Economics, Business, or a related field and an advanced knowledge of quantitative research methods. The degree needs to be completed and documented by the time of starting the position and qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
- Motivation. The successful candidate must demonstrate the motivation and capacity to excel in both research and teaching. Applicants should have an interest in behavioral aspects of economic/managerial decision-making.
- Methodological skills. We are particularly interested in candidates whose background and qualifications are in one or more of the following areas:
o experimental methods, both in the lab and in the field;
o statistical and econometric analysis, for experimental and empirical data sets
o computation and programming experience;
o economic game-theoretical analysis. - Soft skills. A very good written and oral command of the English language is required (for international candidates, German language skills are not necessary but a plus). Beyond any formal requirements, we are looking for enthusiastic, curious team players who are passionate about research and willing to take on responsibility.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2.786,10 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
