Institute for Responsibility and Sustainability in Global Business
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting June 15, 2026, and ending after 3 years
 
The position focuses on research and teaching in global business and sustainability, examining how firms develop responsible strategies in international markets, including ESG integration, sustainable value creation, business model innovation and the role of digitalization in enabling more sustainable business models.

What to expect

  • Conduct research on sustainable international business strategies, including topics such as ESG integration, responsible global value chains, sustainable business model innovation and digital transformation.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research projects addressing environmental, societal, and governance challenges in global business
  • Contribute to academic publications and conferences in the fields of international business and sustainability
  • Writing a dissertation: You will investigate your research topic and spend most of your working time on developing academic papers contributing to your dissertation
  • Support the development of courses that integrate sustainability challenges into business decision-making (no independent teaching responsibilities are required)
  • Support the RSGB institute in various research, administrative, and project-related activities

What you have to offer

  • Strong interest in sustainability, ESG, or responsible business practices in an international context
  • Knowledge of or willingness to engage with sustainability-related frameworks (e.g., ESG, SDGs, sustainable business models)
  • Interest in combining strategy, internationalization, and sustainability research
  • Ability to connect theoretical insights with real-world sustainability challenges faced by firms
  • Academic degree: We are looking for applicants with a strong academic record including a master’s degree (or MSc or equivalent) in business administration, economics, or another business-related study program (e.g., industrial engineering, business psychology, sustainability management, political science) that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
  • Willingness to use multimedia learning methods: You are prepared to use multimedia learning formats.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,832.08 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
