Institute for Higher Education Management
Fulltime, 40 hours/week
Starting October 01, 2025, and limited until September 30, 2026
 
The Institute for Higher Education Management (IHM) is looking for a highly qualified candidate with extensive experience in higher education research to support the research and teaching portfolio of our team. We are particularly searching for a candidate with expertise on the topic of third mission/higher education engagement with society, social responsibility and/or societal impact. In addition, the candidate will be expected to teach Bachelor- and Master-level courses on strategic management and leadership, supervise Bachelor and Master theses, and help organize events, including the Higher Education Speaker Series.
 
IHM activities include research, teaching, policy advising and external engagement with different stakeholders, as well as involvement in international associations. Areas of interest at IHM combine theories of business and management applied to the complex organization of universities. With this focus, IHM provides insights for higher education scholars and practitioners but also beyond that for research and practice interested in expert and nonprofit organizational settings.

What you have to offer

  • A completed PhD in social sciences, with a focus on higher education
  • Research expertise on third mission/societal impact of higher education, proven through high quality publications in (higher education) journals
  • Expertise in mixed-methods, especially surveys and interviews (i.e. familiarity with tools such as STATA, R and NVivo)
  • Excellent English skills (writing and oral)
  • Experience in organizing scientific events, such as conferences or academic workshops
  • Teaching experience, preferably related to strategy, management and/or leadership
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching and learning formats
  • Experience in supervising Bachelor and Master theses
  • Ability to design and lead an independent research project
  • International experience 
  • High ambition and motivation for an academic career
  • Ability to work independently, but also be an effective team contributor

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4.932,90 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
