What to expect
- Independent research work: You will be expected to work in the field of International Business with a specific focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). You will independently gather data and publish your findings in top journals in the fields of International Business and International Entrepreneurship.
- Teaching: You will be planning and teaching courses as well as holding exams and conducting other types of assessments.
- Student support: You will be available to answer students’ questions and act as an advisor for bachelor’s and master’s theses.
- Organizational and administrative support: You will be organizing and evaluating teaching activities, planning exams, keeping the budget in mind, and acquiring competitive third-party funding.
- Learning from top researchers: You will be working together with renowned researchers in your field and learning from them.
- Teamwork: At the institute, you’ll be working to advance research in your field together with an experienced team.
- Building up a professional network: You will be using the post-doc phase to establish yourself as a researcher and expand your professional network.
What you have to offer
- A PhD degree: You have graduated with excellent grades from a doctoral degree program focusing on International Business (or you have already submitted your dissertation and will graduate this year).
- First academic papers: You have already developed strong skills in gathering primary quantitative and qualitative data. You have already gathered experience in managing secondary data. You have already published or are in the process of publishing academic papers on SME and/or family firm internationalization in top publication outlets in the International Business and/or International Entrepreneurship fields.
- Academic network: You have already developed a decent academic network and are willing to strengthen it.
- Language skills: You speak excellent English and can work in German.
- Teaching experience: Experience with teaching classes in the field of International Business in higher education is a must.
- Experience with supervising student theses: Experience with supervising bachelor or master’s theses is a must.
- Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn.
- IT and methodological skills: You are familiar with MS Office, Stata, and R. An ability to work with primary and secondary data is a key requirement for this position. Experience with statistical methods such as meta-analysis and multi-level regressions is a plus.
- Working style: You work independently, show initiative, and have good self-organization skills.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4,932.90 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
