The WU Transfer Pricing Center is an integral part of the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law WU Vienna. The Center focuses on researching, analyzing, debating and teaching transfer pricing topics. Through its activities, it positions itself as a global institution providing the missing nexus between theory and practice in approaching transfer pricing topics. The Center combines both the academic and practical perspectives and its approach is highly international and interdisciplinary. 

What to expect

As a teaching and research associate with focus on transfer pricing, you will be expected to be involved in research, teaching, and self-administration of the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law. You will also be fully integrated into the WU Transfer Pricing Center’s activities which will include research work, conferences, workshops, and specific training courses.
  • Writing a dissertation: Writing your own dissertation with a focus on transfer pricing is an integral part of your scope of work as a teaching and research associate
  • Developing research skills: Under the guidance of the Managing Director of the WU Transfer Pricing Center, Dr. Raffaele Petruzzi, and the Professors of the Institute you will be expected to work on several research projects developed by the Center and will assist the Center in its on-going publications in Transfer Pricing, as well as writing joint and independent publications
  • Gaining teaching experience: From the start, you will be involved in teaching activities step by step. Furthermore, you will gain experience in giving presentations within international research projects and corporate partners’ programs. Teaching will be in English for Austrian and international students and practitioners
  • Benefiting from the board structure: 10 professors and three center directors are working at the Institute. Depending on your current teaching assignment or research topic, you can work alternately with each of them
  • Working in a team: The Institute has approximately 90 staff members, most of them academic, as well as many visiting professors and guest researchers from around the world
  • Getting to know the global tax law community: As the largest tax law institute worldwide, we are a hub for the international tax community. The institute offers a unique academic platform for significant, innovative, and inspiring tax-related research
  • Building your own personal network: You will have the opportunity to network within the international scientific community by participating in both the Institute’s and international conferences, and eventually during short research stays abroad 
  • Maturing in a team: You participate and collaborate in research projects, publications, events and lectures on current topics which stimulates the expansion and deepening of specialist knowledge. The critical debate with peers, professors and international guests offers great opportunities for your own professional and personal development
  • Research and teaching support: You will support administrative tasks related to research, teaching, self-governance, and funded research projects

What you have to offer

  • Academic degree: A completed, Austrian or international master’s degree in law and/or business and economics, or equivalent qualification, that qualifies you for enrolment in a doctoral program at WU
  • Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Austrian tax law or another tax jurisdiction, ideally initial knowledge of international tax law. In addition, first knowledge in transfer pricing and initial academic work in the field of tax law is an advantage 
  • Language skills: Perfect command of the English language; other languages would be beneficial
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia learning and teaching formats
  • IT-skills: Good IT skills and ideally familiarity with new technologies
  • Commitment: You would like to benefit from the exchange in an international team and work independently on your own initiative and in a self-organized manner

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,684.10 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
