Institute for Transport and Logistics Management
Part-time, 30 hours/week

You want to deepen your interest in your research topic while gaining your first teaching experience? This position opens doors to either an academic career or a later switch to a career in business.

What to expect

  • Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
  • Research: Participation in research and publication projects.
  • Conducting and accompanying courses: Collaborate in the teaching activities of the chair, e.g. independent planning and implementation of courses and examinations.
  • Support organization and administration: Assist in the organization and evaluation of teaching and in the acquisition and administration of external funding.
  • Supervise students: You are there to answer students' questions and co-supervise seminar papers and theses
  • Working in a team: Actively contribute to a committed, cooperative and high-performing team.
  • Benefit from top researchers: At the start of your academic career, you will learn from renowned researchers in your field and thus expand your knowledge, e.g. by contributing to the writing and publication of academic articles and book chapters
  • Build a network: Use the pre-doc phase to make contacts for your future career, e.g. while attending scientific conferences

What you have to offer

  • Academic degree: You have a diploma/master’s degree in social sciences and economics with reference to supply chain management or an equivalent university degree in Austria or abroad (e.g. economics or industrial engineering)  that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
  • Very good knowledge: You have very good knowledge in the field of operations research and the application of quantitative methods as well as programming skills (e.g. C/C++, Python, Julia, R...).
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
  • Language skills: You have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Commitment: You work independently, on your own initiative and in a self-organized manner.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2.684,10 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
