environment while gaining first teaching experience? As a Teaching and Research Associate
(30h/week) at the WU International Accounting Group you conduct your own research and
contribute to the Group’s research agenda to successfully complete your PhD. This position
provides you with an excellent steppingstone for an academic career in an internationally visible research team.
What to expect
- Active participation in the Institute research projects in the area of international
accounting. This includes the advancement of empirical research and publication
projects. - Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a
third of your working hours on writing your dissertation. - Teaching and teaching support: You will be planning and teaching courses in the
financial accounting field, providing support for exams, and conducting exams yourself. - Student support: You will be available to answer students’ questions, provide feedback
on seminar papers, and act as a co-advisor for bachelor’s and master’s theses. - Teamwork: You will be working to advance research in your field together with an
experienced team. - Building up a professional network: You will be using the prae-doc phase to create
your own professional network for the future. You will actively participate in
international conferences and the institute’s research seminar series. - Organizational and administrative support: Active participation in the group's
international research agenda.
What you have to offer
- Academic degree: We are looking for applicants with a strong academic record
including a master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in business administration and/or
economics, with a focus on accounting or related discipline, that qualifies you for
enrollment in a doctoral program at WU. We expect commitment to completing a
doctoral degree and to contribute to the international research community. - Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and
interest in conducting research in these and related fields. - Communication skills: For research and teaching purposes, we expect you to have
excellent oral and written communication skills in English. - Data analysis: Prior knowledge of quantitative data analysis techniques and software
(e.g., STATA, R, Python) is a plus. The candidate must be willing to achieve proficiency
in such applications over the course of the first years of employment. - Prior experience: Ideally, prior experience with academic work and practical
experience in accounting/audit/tax. - Teaching: We expect strong commitment to teaching international accounting (IFRS),
both at undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior experince in teaching or as teaching
assitant is a plus. - Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
- Working style: You work independently, show initiative, and have good self-organization skills.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2.832,08 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
