Institute for Responsibility and Sustainability in Global Business
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting October 01, 2025, and ending after 6 years

Become a thought leader in the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainability?  Then the Institute for Responsibility and Sustainability in Global Business (RSBG) is the place for you! 

What to expect

  • Active participation in the Institute research projects in the areas of responsibility and sustainability in global business and related areas (e.g., business ethics, corporate purpose, responsible leadership).   • Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation. This thesis topic should align with the research areas and expertise of the Institute (see link above).
  • Teaching and teaching support: You will be planning and teaching courses in the responsibility and sustainability field, providing support for exams, and conducting exams yourself.
  • Organizational and administrative support: You will be supporting Professor Stahl and his team in administrative matters.
  • Student support: You will be available to answer students’ questions, provide feedback on seminar papers, and act as a co-advisor for bachelor’s theses.
  • Learning from top researchers: You will be getting your own research career off to a great start by working together with renowned researchers in your field and learning from them.
  • Teamwork: You will be working to advance research in your field together with an experienced team.
  • Building up a professional network: You will be using the pre-doc phase to create your own professional network for the future.

What you have to offer

  • Academic degree: We are looking for applicants with a strong academic record including a master’s degree (or MSc or equivalent) in business administration, economics, or another business-related study program (e.g., industrial engineering, business psychology, sustainability management, political science) that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
  • Excellent knowledge of sustainability and corporate responsibility and interest in conducting research in these and related fields.
  • Communication skills: For research and teaching purposes, we expect you to have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Data analysis: Prior knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques and software (R, STATA, NVivo, MAQDA) is a plus, but not a must. However, the candidate must be willing to achieve proficiency in such applications over the course of the first years of employment.
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
  • Working style: You work independently, show initiative, and have good self-organization skills.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,786.10 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
