Would you like to study a topic in the field of organizational control and incentive systems in depth as part of a dissertation? We at IfU offer a team that aims for excellence in research and teaching in this field and are looking for committed people who want to contribute to this in an open and appreciative environment.
What to expect
- Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
- Develop scientific working methods: Initially, you will be guided by experienced researchers to contribute to publications. Later, you will write your own publications, e.g. conference papers and articles in scientific journals. Our experienced team of professors and post-docs will introduce you to various empirical-quantitative methods. Depending on the topic and method, you can work with different researchers over the course of your dissertation.
- Gain teaching experience: You will be gradually integrated into teaching at WU right from the start. Project courses with partner companies also allow you to gain experience on current topics from a business perspective. The language of instruction is predominantly English.
- Working in a team: The institute consists of around 15+ predominantly academic staff. Regular workshops with PhDs from other universities and research seminars with experienced international researchers offer excellent networking opportunities.
- Get to know the global scientific community: As one of the leading international institutes in the field of management accounting and corporate management, we regularly present our research work at the most important conferences of our global scientific community. This also allows you to establish relevant international contacts independently. In individual cases, shorter research stays at other universities are also possible.
- Maturing in a team: Participation and collaboration in research projects, publications, events and lectures on current topics encourages you to expand and deepen your specialist knowledge. The critical debate with peers, professors and international guest researchers offers great opportunities for your own professional and personal development.
- Perform organizational and administrative tasks: You will collaborate in the organization of courses and the maintenance of our student community and take on supporting tasks in the administration and acquisition of research projects.
What you have to offer
- Academic degree: You have a diploma/master’s degree in Business or Economics that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
- Knowledge: Very good knowledge in one of the following areas: Financial management (Accounting & Finance); Governance, Organization and Human Resource Management; Strategic Management and market-oriented Corporate Management; Microeconomics (e.g. with a focus on incentive structures, labor productivity, behavioral economics). Initial experience in scientific work (e.g. participation in empirical studies) is an advantage.
- Language skills: Excellent knowledge of English. Proficiency in German is an advantage, but not required initially.
- Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
